Name of your website?Reservations Beverly Hills
Your name?
Zach Griffith
Your Location (city, etc)
Beverly Hills
When did you start your website and why?
I started this website in June of 2007. I often book hotels, flights, and car rental for family members that are coming to visit. I often have to wade through overwhelming sites that do not get to the point when it comes time to make reservations. With my background in web-design, I thought that it would only be right for me to build a site that had exactly what people are looking for when they are getting ready to travel to our beautiful city.
Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
Reservations Beverly Hills is a site that was designed specifically for reserving hotel rooms, flights, and rental cars in the Beverly Hills area. The site was built keeping our visitors in mind. We understand that reserving accommodations can be a cumbersome task, so keeping that in mind, we developed Reservations Beverly Hills to be the easiest reservation site on the Internet.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
The most difficult part of developing the website was integrating it with the booking engine. We wanted to ensure that our site's visitors had a streamlined dashboard when navigating between our site and the booking engine. I believe that we have definitely accomplished this goal.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
The easiest part of operating the website is just the fact that we know we are providing our guests with the best booking engine for the Beverly Hills area.
What was your biggest mistake?
The biggest mistake that was made was not getting the website into the public limelight. There is a lot of competition in the travel industry, and we really underestimated the competition!
Who maintains your website and why?
I am the primary person that maintains the website. I designed it, so it does not really require that much ongoing maintenance other than hotel specials, site upgrades, etc..
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
The main way that my business will benefit from this website, is knowing that we made the web a little bit easier for the next person that wants to travel to the Beverly Hills area.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
E-commerce is the primary player in the future of the Internet. I predict that e-commerce will be utilized as the primary method of shopping for non-consumable goods by the year 2020.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
Search engine optimization is the key to success online. Without it you are not going anywhere. Believe me, I learned the hard way!
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
My website has not really been up long enough to determine how it is going to be affected by the search engines. At this point any traffic will be great, so the future is pretty bright from that perspective.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Submitting links to various sites along with good old word of mouth.
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
Pay Per Click. The travel industry is swamped with big travel sites that have deep pockets. A startup has a tough go if they even want to think about competing in the pay per click market.
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
I would like to see search engines list sites quicker. I think that a good site should not have to wait months before it is recognized as a legitimate resource.
You can enter a question of your choice and the answer here:
If you had to do it again, would you? Yes. Just knowing that I may have made someones travel shopping a little less treachorous, makes this all worth while for me.
