What inspired you to launch your own website?
I want others to experience the wonders and enjoyment of our Island
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
Our first website went "live" in 1999 and was one of the first websites where fights to Guernsey could be booked online and now you can also book hotels, car hire and holiday insurance.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Guernsey Travel says exactly "what is on the tin" ans this is precisely what we offer.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Over 30 year's experience of arranging holidays to Guernsey and they can be booked online at low direct sell prices and no supplements.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Help as many people as possible to discover Guernsey
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Because my passion and love fore the island is so high, whatever time and money invested by me is a pleasure and a success in itself to spread the word about Guernsey.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
This is too biig a question to answer simply.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Because we have the latest technology, I'm sure we would do our very best to provide excellent service to any increase in business levels.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Airline failures, travel taxes, government interference, fuel cost increases.
What has been your biggest challenge?
To constantly keep the business fresh and grow the business.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth as we have a massive list of satisfied clients.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Keeping up with various changes in the marketplace still has to be done bu humans as computers cannot predict demand levels.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
9 years + and as long as I'm still employed here.
