The Gili Paradise website is a usefull and easy to navigate source of non biased information about the Gili islands in Lombok, Indonesia.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
basically the lack of good non biased information about 3 small very special coral fringed paradise islands.

How did you decide on a name for your website?
was not very hard really, Gili islands and paradise are 2 things that naturally go together
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
the fact that we do offer a massive amount of information and online booking service in a very easy and friendly way.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Keep it, far too much work has gone in to buiding it to the level it is today, and it is my goal to offer the information in an easy non biased way.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
for sure way more time and effort than financial gain, but thats the point, its about offering something that is not available but should be available.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
not at all, i would give it all to the island to start essential eco alternative infrastructure, which is very much needed to sustain tourism and the local environment.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
in indonesia thats a pretty silly question and i dont have time to list them all as there is a new challenge every day.

making the interactive maps
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
natural generic information alone, and a little bit of google adwords
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
its a lot more work than i anticipated.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
2 years already and the money is not so important, quality of life and happiness is
why do you go to such lengths to offer so much information.
because i just love and care for the islands, i feel they should be promoted in the right way, so as to sustain growth in an eco friendly way and not let people rape and pilage such a special place strictly for financial gain.
