APARTA Interview

By Interviewer at 02/19/09 12:06

Name of your website?

APARTA

Your name?

Julijs

Your Location (city, etc)

Riga

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Our site offers large amount of apartments for short and long time rent, located in the Old City and Riga centre. This is most comfortable way to stay in Riga.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Possibility to get more clients.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Site was lounched in old version about 6 years ago. Now we made significally changes in design and accessibility, preserving the old name - www.aparta.lv

How did you decide on a name for your website?

This is shortage from APARTments ==> APARTA.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

Simplicity.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep it for income and increase amount of usual customers

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Expectations was bigger then results we got, but without Web based service (even it is uncomplete and, may be, not fully finished) now it is hard to reach some success.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Present structure is like Lego constructor, so it allows to add more modules, if such need appears. Our present goal is to finish construction and design, as now only about 1/10 part of database is processed in site.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

We deal with it.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Communication quality improvements and advertising expences.

What has been your biggest challenge?

To take a risk to modernize old site.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Partnership with reservation systems.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Construction takes long time, too long... And still not finished yet.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

About six years. Definitelly, yes.

What is your website address?

APARTA
