Rocky Point Beach Vacation Interview

By Interviewer at 11/07/09 08:30

Name of your website?

Rocky Point Beach Vacation

Your name?

Brian

Your Location (city, etc)

Sun City West

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Casa del Sol is a newly built, pet friendly, 'Green Energy' home, just steps from beautiful Playa Encanto beach. This wonderful home has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms with 2,500 feet of living space, including a full kitchen, dining area and a large living area. This home sleeps 12, with 3 large bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms downstairs and a master king bedroom and full bath upstairs. A second full bathroom is located near the upstairs living area.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Web marketing seems to be the best way to attract possible customers. Very few people use print ads any longer, and if you want to be known and seen by potential customers you must be on the web. I took a website design class at my local community college and realized I could design a site on my own without having to pay a professional hundreds, or thousands of dollars to make one for me.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This website is my first.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I looked a similar sites and the names they were using. I checked on Yahoo for available website names and came up with Rocky Point Beach Vacation. I have three other website names for this site, RockyPointVacation.net, PuertoPenascoBeachVacation.com, PuertoPenascoVacation.com. All link to the main website.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I'm hoping my design stands out as something that looks a little different than others. I tried to use basic features, yet make the site look more appealing than similar sites.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

This is an investment property that I would like to rent for a few years then sell.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I have spent much time and little money promoting this property. It is a new property and I've only begun renting it in past few months.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I might hire an SEO professional to make suggested changes to the site in order to attract more potential customers.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I could handle the demand.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Not much cost as of yet. I spend quite a bit of time promoting my site. (See the last question for more on this).

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge is getting my site rated high enough by the major search engines.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

I think I have been most successful by promoting my site with the major search engines and directories. I have also had quite a few hits through companines sucy as Ebay and Craigslist.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I was not sure what to expect, so I cannot make that determination at this point.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I started the site in May 2009. I'll keep it up and running as long as customers find and use it to rent my home.

What difficulities have you had in promoting your site?

I have submitted my site to many, many different sites and directories. I have found that many of these sites and directories are not desgined very well and do not accept information I try to include. This is makes the process very frustrating. I should think that the site administrators would do a better job in testing their sites for these errors and problems before placing them online.

What is your website address?
