Sometimes you just really have to wonder why some people are born richer than the others. Working your way to become rich, I think, is more hard work than luck, though you cannot deny that luck is a factor, too. Those who are really lucky are those who are born rich. Those who didn't have to worry much about their own finances during the economic downturn. Those who chose a path of giving away their wealth to the less fortunate. Sometimes you wish you were part of that, huh?
The closest that you can get to living the lifestyle of the rich is getting to where they are living--or used to live. There are a plenty of opportunities for that here in the United States, one notable destination for which is the city of Newport in Rhode Island.
Rich in history and wealth, Newport has been there since the 17th century, even before the American Revolution. You can only guess how much old the styles of the homes there were. Today, the city has among the highest concentration of colonial homes in the country owing to this historical advantage.
Aside from the colonial homes, however, another destination that attracts visitors are the Newport Mansions, an array of mansions owned by some of the country's richest and prominent families, like the Vanderblitz, for example. In these houses, a special report said, single homes normally used by the lower classes serve here as some sort of doll house for the kids. If that isn't a display of wealth, then I do not know what is.
Normally, the city is popular as a summer resort, a time when the children go out and have the opportunity to go to far places and learn a lesson or two. When the authors of the linked article visited, however, it was around Christmas time. The ample decoration presented all throughout the estate is a proof of this.
Can anyone of us get something like this? Probably, probably not. I don't think anyone will be stupid enough to have something big built this early in the process, though.
