Barcelona - My Personal Guide Interview

By Interviewer at 10/23/09 09:30

Name of your website?

Barcelona - My Personal Guide

Your name?

Amy Davys

Your Location (city, etc)

Barcelona

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Barcelona is a place I love so I have put together this guide. It is all my own work and I hope people enjoy it.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I like Barcelona and there is so much to see and do that I thought I would do my guide.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my VERY first website. Of course, I have used Facebook and things before but this is my first website that I have made myself. Fun isn't it.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Well as it's a guide about Barcelona I thought I had better call it Barcelona.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

This is my site. It's not some big commercial directory

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I don't think anyone would buy it yet. But if anyone wants to give me a Million euros for it next year when it will be bigger - that will be cool.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Don't know yet

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would use the budget to buy me snickers to keep me going whilst I was working on the computer. If I got lots of other people to do the site it wouldn't be my site then.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Ah, well then I would have to employ people, starting with my family although some of them (like parents) are not so good on the computer

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None

What has been your biggest challenge?

Leaving my computer to go to the beach. Well, not THAT much of a challenge

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

My Dad

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I have earnt one dollar from Adsense so far!!! I was hoping that Adsense would help pay for my gap year but I guess I still have lots of work to do yet.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The thing about a website is it just keeps getting bigger and hopefully better. It is quite fun having this website so I will keep it going. I would like to go traveling so I can add other sections when I have been to other places.

What help do you want promoting your site?

It would be great if people sent my web address to all their friends, wrote to me with stories about Barcelona, sent their photos etc and then when I am rich and famous I can donate lots of money to Barcelona Charities.

What is your website address?
