AroundMallorca.com is a total guide to Mallorca. Here you will find an extensive list of local businesses, general information about the island, property sales and search, hotel summaries and booking plus more information on tourist attractions and excursions. There are also detailed pages about various resorts.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I have lived in Mallorca for 15 years and got fed up with trying to get information about the island through search engines and continually getting real estate pages.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my only website and it was launched in 2005.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Quite easy - the site is about travelling around Mallorca!
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
I think the amount of content and free information on the site surpasses any other - or that is my aim.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To have the most comprehensive guide to Mallorca and eventually make an income so that I can write the same about the other Balearic Islands.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
So far I have spent 3 years of most of my spare time building the site with little or no return, but spent very little money.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Pay for someone to write the other sites about the Balearics for me.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes - I have a good team of family and friends who would help me.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
No costs but a real headache trying to get relevant info on affiliate marketing which I am trying to include in the site.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding time to write more pages whilst working full time.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
My webmaster is excellent in SEO and most traffic comes from search engines.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I got more hooked into it than I intended - it was originally for fun and now I want to work on it full time!!
