MyCottageHoliday.co.uk Interview

By Interviewer at 12/22/08 11:40

Name of your website?

MyCottageHoliday.co.uk

Your name?

Andy Brown

Your Location (city, etc)

Tunbridge Wells

Please give us a short summary of your website?

MyCottageHoliday.co.uk is the place to find impartial UK holiday cottage reviews. Get unbiased comments about a holiday cottage you may be thinking of booking from visitors who have already stayed there. And, we also want to hear from you. Your experiences could help someone else book the right holiday cottage. MyCottageHoliday.co.uk - simply unbiased holiday cottage reviews.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We have stayed at many self-catering properties in the UK and would have found it useful to have read the guest book before we booked! Now - by sharing views and reviews on MyCottageHoliday.co.uk - people can.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

2000 - It was a website about buying domain names as Christmas presents.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It seemed to describe the service.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We don't know of another site that just focusses on cottage and self-catering holiday reviews.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Be the first port of call for anyone who is about to book a cottage.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Just launched - I'll tell you in a year. Also, we don't charge, so we'll need to think of a revenue maker too!

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Probably smarten up the design.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Oh yes.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Delay after delay - we've been very pernickerty in testing - but at least we now know it's going to work well and the usability is ace.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Don't know yet - hopefully word of mouth.

What is your website address?
