Name of your website?

Bendigo

Your name?

Jamie Oz

Your Location (city, etc)

Bendigo

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Bendigo is a popular Victoria goldfields holiday destination. There is Bendigo accommodation to suit all budgets and needs. Here you can find and book online Bendigo motels, hotels, cabins, bed and breakfasts, cottages and caravan parks with instant confirmation of your Bendigo Accommodation. You will also find extensive Bendigo attraction, history, restaurant, festival and tours information.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We have travelled much of the world and am now taking time out to discover my own country (Australia) and State (Victoria). I now build websites promoting regional Victorian tourism

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

First site was built with Frontpage and no experience so you can imaging what it looked like! Very very ordinary to say the least

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Easy... destination

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

My sites have heaps of information and I actually spend time in the towns, in this case bendigo researching and learning

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Make it earn a few dollars so I can justify building more sites

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Ouch... poorly

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would do some SEO courses and take it from there

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I hope so, only time will tell

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

WOW! loads, changes to improve architecture of the site, SEO, constantly finding new info, inconsistant income streams

What has been your biggest challenge?

motivation

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

SEO

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

would have hoped for more local support

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

12 months and indefinately (as long as it at least pays for itself)

What do you wish you knew before you started?

that some people are simply cranky! that SEO is important, that there are various ways to monetize your site, there are easier ways to build websites than coding

What is your website address?

Bendigo
