The Oldest Synagogue in United States

The Touro Synagogue a classical nice looking building standing on Touro Street since 1658 is not just a simple old building on the Newport Rhode Island. It is the oldest synagogue in the United States and was as a National Historic Site in 1946. It symbolizes the historical significance of the religoious tolerance and of a principle pledged by a revolutionary government of George Washington.
