Spain Holiday.com Interview

By Interviewer at 07/02/07 10:37
Name of your website?

Spain Holiday.com

Your name?

Claus Sorensen/Helena De Vlieger

Your Location (city, etc)

Malaga

When did you start your website and why?

Spain-Holiday.com was launched in 2002 as a simple hobby. Claus is a programmer and he wanted something else than his 9 to 5 job. He couldn't realize it was going to become that successful as it is now.

Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc

Spain-Holiday.com is the fastest growing company for holiday rentals ONLY in Spain. The website is representing more than 2400 holiday homes which are advertised by private homeowners.

What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?

All the time and effort placed in making an easy-to-use website

What has been the easist part of operating your website?

Not the easiest, but the most pleasant is handling the support section. I love the contact with the client, and being here every day to solve a problem, improving the website and helping holidaymakers to find a nice home to spend their next holidays in.

What was your biggest mistake?

To avoid these, we like to recieve feedback from home owners and holidaymakers to try and improve our website every day.

Who maintains your website and why?

Claus and Helena both work hard to have a well-maintained and updated website

What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?

In our case, our business is this website, so we of course believe very strongly in the Internet. It is defenitly becoming bigger and bigger and every year more people use the Internet to plan their holidays.

What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

SEO is extremely important. We need to keep updated about the SEO strategies of the biggest search engines and make sure we are on top of the listings with important keywords. In our case, if people are looking for Vacation rentals in Spain or Spanish holiday homes, we hope they use www.spain-holiday.com and find what they are looking for. We are spending a lot of time and money on SEO as this is big part of what makes our business roll.

What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?

As we mentionned in the previous question, search engines are extremely important, as they bring the new client to our website. They are the ones that give us the traffic. So, we need to "take good care" of these and make sure to be on top of thier listings.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

SEO

What method has been least successful for promoting your website?

Advertising in magazines

What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?

That the seacrh engines valuate the effort we put in promoting our website, not only the money, but the time we spend on making a nice and user-friendly webiste.
